M.C.U.D promueve la próxima Asamblea Civil en Cuba con el Presidente de
la Comisión de Relaciones Exteriores del Senado Mexicano.
México D.F. 23 de Marzo 2005. Cumpliendo con su agenda internacional
de trabajo así como con su compromiso de darle apoyo a la “Asamblea para
promover la Sociedad Civil en Cuba”, el Movimiento Cubano Unidad
Democrática representado por su presidente el Ing. César L. Alarcón, la
Asociación Cívica Cubano Mexicana representada por su presidente el Lic.
Eduardo López, el sitio web CubanosMex.com representada por su director
Ing. Tony Corzo sostuvieron el pasado miércoles un amistoso encuentro
con el Honorable Senador Fernando Margáin Berlanga, Presidente de la
Comisión de Relaciones Exteriores del Senado Mexicano.
Durante el encuentro el Ing. Alarcón le mostró al Senador Margáin una
carpeta conteniendo información relacionada con el próximo Congreso
opositor a celebrarse en Cuba el 20 de mayo del 2005. Le solicitó al
Senador Margáin su apoyo y que dentro de su agenda de trabajo y en lo
posible diese a conocer tan importante evento dentro de las filas de su
partido así como en el seno del Senado mexicano.
“Es necesario que en México, su pueblo y su gobierno sepan que existe
una gran oposición en la isla que de forma pacífica busca espacios para
instaurar una verdadera Sociedad Civil” le señaló Alarcón.
El Honorable Senador Margáin ocupa la más alta posición en el Senado en
lo que a política exterior se refiere y el Senado de la República tiene
facultades exclusivas en materia internacional al tener a su cargo el
análisis de la política exterior desarrollada por el Ejecutivo Federal.
Durante el encuentro que se celebró en la sede del Senado localizado en
Xicoténcatl No.9, Ciudad de México, se abordaron varios de temas de
interés que ayudarían al avance hacia la democracia en Cuba analizándola
en el contexto latinoamericano.
El Ing. Alarcón también le solicitó formalmente al presidente de la
Comisión de Relaciones Exteriores del Senado que le hiciese llegar al
Sr. Presidente Vicente Fox y al Secretario de Relaciones Exteriores,
Embajador Dr. Luis Ernesto Derbez Bautista el sentir de la oposición
cubana dentro de la isla y del exilio cubano con respecto a la posición
a tomar por La República Mexicana en las próximas votaciones que se
efectuarán en Ginebra, Suiza, donde esperamos que el voto mexicano se
apegue a la verdad y como en las últimas ocasiones se condene a la
dictadura cubana por sus reiteradas violaciones a los Derechos Humanos.
El Ing. Tony Corzo le explicó al Senador Margáin que incluso el gobierno
de México podría añadir a la larga lista de violaciones a los Derechos
Humanos en Cuba el caso de los dos balseros cubanos que fueron recogidos
por las autoridades mexicanas en el golfo de México y que el gobierno
cubano en flagrante violación a cuanto acuerdo internacional en está
materia existe y como desde hace cuarenta y seis años se desentendió del
caso, privándole a los familiares en Cuba el derecho a darle una santa
sepultura.
El Lic. Eduardo Matías López por su parte le explicó al Senador Bargáin
la importancia de continuar apoyando a la disidencia dentro de Cuba y le
solicitó que la Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores le oriente a su
Embajada en Cuba ayude e invite a nuestra valerosa oposición a los
eventos oficiales que se celebren en la isla.
La reunión que transcurrió en un ambiente amable y respetuoso, concluyó
con el compromiso por parte del Senador Fernando Bargáin Berlanga de
hacer llegar todas las inquietudes de los opositores cubanos dentro de
la isla así como del exilio cubano al Presidente Vicente Fox y a su
Secretario de Relaciones Exteriores Embajador Derbez.

M.C.U.D promotes the next Civil Assembly in Cuba with the President
of the Committee of Foreign Relations of the Mexican Senate.
Mexico D.F. March 23, 2005. Complying with its international agenda as
well as its commitment to the support of the " Assembly to promote the
Civil Society in Cuba", the Cuban Movement for a Unified Democracy
represented by its president Eng. César L. Alarcón, the Cuban Mexican
Civic Association represented by lawyer Eduardo Matías Lopez, the Web
site CubanosMex.com represented by their director Eng. Tony Corzo had a
friendly encounter this past Wednesday with the Honorable Senator
Fernando Margáin Berlanga, President of the Committee of Foreign Affairs
of the Mexican Senate.
During the encounter Eng. Alarcón presented Senator Margáin with a
folder containing information relating to the upcoming competing
congress to be celebrated in Cuba May 20 2005. Eng. Alarcón asked
Senator Margáin for his support and that within his agenda of work and
whenever possible announce this important event within his party and the
Mexican Senate.
Alarcon stated, "It is necessary that in Mexico, its people and its
government know that there exists a sizable opposition within the island
that peacefully searches for areas to establish a true Civil Society”.
The Honorable Senator Margáin holds the highest position in the foreign
policy Senate and where the Senate of the Republic has exclusive
faculties in international matter having at its disposition the analysis
of foreign policy developed by the Federal Executive.
During the encounter that took place at the seat of the Senate located
in Xicoténcatl No.9, Mexico City, several subjects of interest were
brought up that would help towards the advancement of democracy in Cuba,
within a Latin American context.
Eng. Alarcón also formally solicited the president of the Committee of
Foreign Affairs of the Senate to relay to Mr. President Vicente Fox and
the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dr Luis Ernesto Derbez
Bautista the feeling of the Cuban opposition within the island and in
exile with respect to the position that should be taken by the Mexican
Republic at the next votes in Geneva, Switzerland, where we hope that
the Mexican vote is aligned with the truth and as in previous occasions
condemns the Cuban dictatorship for his repeated violations of Human
Rights.
Eng. Tony Corzo explained to Senator Margáin that the government of
Mexico could even add to the long list of Human Rights violations in
Cuba, the case of Cuban rafters (balseros) that were recovered by the
Mexican authorities in the gulf of Mexico and that the Cuban government
in flagrant violation of numerous international agreements in this
matter and as it has done for forty-six years distanced itself from the
case, depriving relatives in Cuba the right to give then a proper
burial.
Lawyer Eduardo Matías Lopez on the other hand explained to Senator
Bargáin the importance of continuing to support the dissidents within
Cuba and requested that the Secretary of Foreign Affairs directs his
Embassy in Cuba to help and invite our valiant opposition to official
events that take place in the island.
The meeting that transpired in an amiable and respectful atmosphere,
concluded with the commitment on the part of Senator Fernando Bargáin
Berlanga to relay the restlessness from the brave Cuban freedom fighters
within the island as well as in exile to President Vicente Fox and his
Secretary of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Derbez.
